Content Strategy for Multiple Channels

Filed under: Content Strategy — Misty @ 10:07 pm

I’ve been thrilled working on my new blog with the Washington Ensemble Theatre, so much so I have neglected my own blog for too long. It is easier to write when you have a cause and a passion – local theatre is definitely one of mine.

Working on the blog strategy, however, is just one piece of the whole. It took getting to know the organization, its members, its show, its audience over time to understand their content. It took hours getting to know their website and the web designer (goddess, Kemeya Harper). Within the marketing department, developing strategies and language to use in promoting shows on the website, in the press, on Facebook, Twitter, direct email and video trailers and interviews. I get to touch so much content!  And can think globally about how it travels through all of the different channels.

Now I better understand what Content Strategist Ariel van Spronsen (@arielvansprons) meant at the Ask a Content Strategist workshop when she says you are lucky when you get to work on a content strategy across a company’s different channels as opposed to just a website. Is this a new beginning for me? Or have I just been really lucky on this project?
