Community Management – what’s in your browser?
I am officially a Community Manager. I manage blogs, twitter and facebook channels and try to think about every other little scrap of information that might interest these communities and how I can share it. Everyday, I start with my smartphone. Checking the email, twitter and facebook mentions I missed while asleep. Mentally add to the to do list and then it’s to the desktop.
Each day I start up Firefox and Chrome (one for each client) and proceed to open
Gmail
Calendar
Hootsuite (with 5 twitter feeds, I just haven’t found a better client than this)
Facebook (one tab for every page to manage)
Google Docs
Huddle
Google Groups
LinkedIn
Blog Admin Dashboards
Live Blog Pages
And all hell breaks loose on Analytics day because that’s just so many windows.
Excel – I need to track every page I need to visit
This seems to be the minimum but even with all of these windows, I still feel like I’m missing something. Is there a better way to manage all of these portals and channels? A way that won’t leave me so exhausted and completely disinterested in using social media for my personal live or am I just exhausting it all at work?
